Guest Speaker -
Alison Salter - Centre Founder and Manager
The Highland Chronic Pain Centre, Inverness
A new centre for Chronic Pain Management is to be set up in Inverness and one of the Founders and Centre Manager is coming along to our April meeting to tell us all about the new private service.
Affa Sair holds meetings where you can have a good blether, moan, and share your experiences of living with chronic pain. We try to have a Guest Speaker at all the meetings but if that is not possible then the members quite happily chat among themselves, enjoy the tea, coffee and eats (usually many home bakes) and have good fun. You're guaranteed to feel a whole lot better after the meeting.
We hear time and time again how people are very nervous to come to the meetings but without exception, everyone who does attend feels very happy they were brave enough to step through the door and join in the fun and laughter.
Just as in the Facebook discussions, you will not be judged, investigated, or ridiculed about your life with chronic pain. You'll soon find that all the other members have the first-hand experience of difficulties like yours. There is not a competition to see whose pain is the worst. Everyone's pain is unique and cannot be fairly compared to others.
The meetings are held in Room 14 of the Alexander Graham Bell Hub at Moray College, Moray Street, Elgin IV30 1JS
Meetings start at 1:00 pm with Guest Speakers starting around 1:30 pm. You do not have to force yourself to stay for the whole meeting. You are free to come and go as you please.
There is a small donation for Coffee/Tea/Nibbles.
